Halloween in Florida is different from the rest of the states. It’s usually pretty warm here and so we miss a lot of the beautiful changing of leaves, the cooler temps, the cozy sweaters. But there is so much to play with in terms of Florida-themed costumes. So here are some ideas to help you embrace the Florida-ness of Halloween!

1. A beautiful Florida manatee Halloween costume
Florida is known for its beautiful, gentle, oh-so-special grey goddesses…the manatees. This costume is by no means sexy or even cute, but you will for sure make a statement. And represent so much Florida pride. Plus you can just lounge about and move really slow, all in character!

Live your best years a little early with these amazing Golden Girl costumes. Grab 3 of your closest early retirees and get your wigs on! Some well placed wigs and shoulderpads and you can transform into Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia. Dibs on Sophia!

Florida is known for its large citrus industry, so get your ag on with this orange costume. Everyone will be keeping their eyes peeled to Vitamin C you in it. Let me stop lol.
7. Pineapple and Strawberry Halloween Costumes
Going along with the fruit theme….here’s two more fruit-themed costumes. Did you know that Florida has an Orange Festival, a Strawberry Festival, and a Pineapple Festival? And I think I’ve been to all three 🙂 These costumes are super simple, inexpensive, cute, and comfy….pretty much everything you could want out of a Halloween costume! The Florida connection is not that great, plenty of places have strawberries, but these costumes are so accessible I couldn’t resist including them!
8. Weeki-Wachi Mermaid Halloween Costume
OK a mermaid costume is more of a classic and definitely not Florida only, but if you brand yourself as a Weeki-Wachi Mermaid, now you’re exclusively Floridian! The hose is to mimic their hose they breathe from, or you could also have a small sign with a cute little “Weeki-Wachi Mermaid” wording on it–see the bottom left of the picture below for a good example. 9. Miami Vice Halloween costume
Bring back 80s Miami fashion by dressing as Don Johnson or any of the characters in Miami Vice, really. This one requires several pieces – the pink or teal T-shirt, the white loafers, the white blazer. So have fun assembling this costume and the best part is you can wear these year-round, at least in Florida!
10. Cafe Cubano Halloween costume
Just stop. This is the cutest thing ever. I love this so much!!! You too can rock your Cuban coffee Halloween dreams if you can figure out how to do this. I don’t think it’s that hard, it looks like a cardboard box with some paint maybe? Ah that is so so so great. I love it.
11. Publix sub Halloween costume
The Publix sub. The Pub sub. The swoon-worthy, always fresh and tasty Pub sub. With its legions of fans, you will be the hit of the party. If you can figure out how to pull this off? Without being a baby? Either way, this is the cutest thing ever and a huge shout-out to one of our state’s greatest inventions….the Pub sub.
